Stress is a state of mind and the best way to combat stress and its effects on the mind is through relaxation. Stress can cause many problems such as concentration issues, lack of good judgment, negativity and lack of productivity as well as many health issues such as heart attacks and chronic headaches. The best way to combat these feelings and factors of stress is through relaxation. Relaxation takes as little as ten minutes a day and can be as simple as breathing exercises, or as challenging as a kick boxing class, the choice is yours.

Some people think relaxation needs to be something extreme such as a seven year sabbatical or a three month vacation, this is not the case. The key is to find something you enjoy and teach your mind new tricks! Relaxation can happen anywhere, at home, in the office or while driving.

Finding your method of relaxation might be more difficult for some than others, but it is easy, just think about what you enjoy most. Maybe you like surfing the web, reading, meditating or walking. Any of these activities can be a relaxation method and can be scaled down to ten minutes.

One of the best ways to relax is to escape to a different world, and since not all of us have passports, an easy way to do this is through music, reading and watching TV or movies. These visual stimulators offer a break from the boring day to day lives in which so many of us live. They each create an alternative world that is entirely your own.

Meditation can help you learn to control your body’s reaction to stress through reflection and deep breathing exercises. These techniques must be learned and practiced regularly to insure maximum results. You can achieve full relaxation through ten minutes of meditation, and most people have ten minutes to spare in their busy lives.

The gym, fitness classes and general exercise appeal to many as a form of relaxation. You have a choice between running, walking or lifting weights. Others might prefer group fitness in the form of a cycling, kick boxing or tai chi class. Running and walking burn off built up energy and are a great stress reliever, however not everyone wants to run a marathon. For them there are other classes and their purpose is relaxation, such as yoga which focuses on relaxing the mind and body at once. Many people choose to skip the classes and gym all together and simply walk their dogs in the park which offers equally as much stress relief.

Practice makes perfect and remember patience is a virtue. Listen to your body and practice until your body knows what relaxation feels like. Make note of what did not work for your mind and body, remember it for the future. Be patient, if you don’t get it right away, it will happen eventually so keep up the good work. But make sure to keep yourself motivated by reminding yourself you will be healthier and happier in the end and think how nice it is to do something you like!

Make sure you try different techniques, sometimes one might work better than another and it is best to have a variety. Learning something new is always a challenge however once you get the hang of it, it is like riding a bike, your body won’t forget how. You must make a conscious effort to remind and train your body to relax while performing this task. It may take time, but in the end the rewards will be worth it.

Hypnosis to Download

A hypnotic state can be obtained by simply watching TV or driving. It can also be obtained other ways but they require practice, training and time. It is very difficult to produce this state without those things on command. However it is not impossible to achieve this once you learn how to properly do it. There are many products online which offer to teach you hypnosis, however you may find it best to try a few private sessions before committing to buy expensive online programs.

Figuring out how your mind and body will react to hypnosis is critical and why an actual session is recommended first. Since we are all different, our bodies and mind will react differently than another. Some feel “tingly” or like they are floating while under hypnosis. The mind may feel numb or blank while you are under. Others might not feel these things what so ever. For first timers who have not been hypnotized, you might be unsure of what you are supposed to feel which can be intimidating.

Private sessions will help you understand how your mind works through personal issues. Sometimes while under you might uncover and issue you didn’t know you had. It might be happy or traumatic and you may not know how you will react to this. Not everyone reacts or has the same experiences. Some people may relive a tragic event in their past while having a one on one session. This can be unnerving if it happens at home and you are alone. If you have a one on one session, the hypnotist is able to help you work through the issue instead of dealing with it yourself.

Ultimately we all want the same thingprogress. A professional will provide a plan and a tracking method so you can see if the hypnosis is working or not working. The hypnotist can formulate a program and talk with you about your progress and if need be, change the plan. If you uncover something new you want to work on, your hypnotist can work that into your plan as well. Progressing in treatment is important, if you are not seeing progress, it becomes more difficult to stay with the program.

By using both online products and individual session you can increase your progress. The CD’s DVD’s can help you learn to put yourself in a hypnotic state quickly while you are at home. This will make it easier once you start your individual session. You will also understand how it feels to be hypnotized and how your mind reacts. Once you are at your one on one session you will not be nervous about being put under making the session more useful. For the time between sessions the CD’s help clients to continue practicing and help them to maintain their progress.

Some might feel the private sessions are a waste of time and money when they can be home and by products online for less. While it may be true, the online products are cheaper, private sessions are invaluable for complete and successful advancement. One on one sessions are tailor made for each persons individual progress and personality. The CD’s are helpful for maintenance.

Try it out you have nothing to lose. Talk with your hypnotist about the CD’s or DVD’s you found online. Try a private session and see how you feel afterwards. There are many different ways of being hypnotized and the best way all depends on you. So do your research but think about the importance of a personalized session before making the decision to not try it at all. The choice is yours, but don’t short yourself.

Smoking Ban Spreads since 1998

In 1998 California took drastic measures to help non-smokers feel more welcome in restaurants, bars and casinos. They outlawed smoking. In the last ten years, other states such as Arizona, Florida, New York and recently Oregon have followed California’s example. In 2001 law makers argued both sides of the law, however it was passed by a reasonable margin. Two big reasons for the passing of the bill were a healthy work place and a healthy smoke free environment for non-smokers. Oregon has taken its own steps toward setting an example for others to follow.

Through out the 80’s and early 90’s bills were passed all over the country outlawing workplace smoking. However these bills did not include bars, restaurants, bowling alleys or casinos. Lobbyists argued for these workers and brought forward statistics showing the effects of second hand smoke. They did not feel it was fair to offer a smoke free environment for some workers and not others. Many of the workers liked their jobs and wanted to keep them but ultimately did not want to be around smoke but they suffered through. In the end they had to deal with many second hand smoke issues.

There is nothing like trying to eat dinner while someone is puffing away like a chimney at the next table. Restaurants use to offer smoking and non-smoking sections. However recent studies showed ventilation systems were simply not enough to filter out the second hand smoke. Customers stopped frequenting their favorite restaurants due largely to the fact they were non smokers not wishing to be around the smell or the health hazards. This only furthered the bill into law.

Some feel the bill takes the rights away from adults to choose what they do to their own bodies. While this may be true, smokers are also taking the same right away from non-smokers. Oregon compromised by allowing smoking out doors. While not everyone agrees with this compromise, all parties agreed.

Being exposed to second hand smoke exposes non-smokers to all the same risks as if they smoked. They can develop lung cancer, emphysema, and asthma. Some feel by working in places where smoking is allowed such as bingo halls or clubs, the employee is knowingly exposing themselves to smoke and the health risks same with those who bring business to those places. However, previous legislation promised a smoke free work environment for all, not simply for those who can work a better job.

Health and fair working conditions are something Oregon law makers truly believe in. Oregon is taking strong steps toward those who are noncompliant with the new bill. There are fines and other consequences for those found to be in violation of the new law. No one should have to make the choice between having health problems and not simply so they can get a job or eat out.
