Where to Buy:  Perfect Health: The Complete Mind/Body Guide, Revised and Updated Edition

Description:  Mind and body connecting together to insure good health is what this book is all about.  Use of alternative ways to strengthen the mind and heal the body to achieve perfect health.

Review:  First off this book is a revised edition of the book put out in 1989.  It does bring all the current medical information into play and tells us about things that are new to this type of healthy achievement.

With that said, this book is about using your mind to help your body.  The Ayurdevick method is pronounced in this book.  This method of healing is an Indian method that practices longevity.  Basically the method is used to teach us that we need to make our mind aware and then use that to balance out our bodies.

This type of method is based on you as an individual.  I found the quiz in the book to be perfect for identifying my own needs and what my mind/body type is.  After taking the quiz I was able to construct a plan that fit me.  This really gave me a lot of insight into myself and what I needed to do to maintain my health for years to come.

After the quiz I was able to set up my own daily routine.  Exercise, foods, stress reduction along with many other areas were a part of my daily routine and path.  I began to feel better just having all this mapped out and ready for me to take on.

Once I realized that my mind and body could work together this step-by-step guide set me on the right path to making that happen. Working together with my daily routine has made me feel better as each day goes by.

If you’re looking for a way to find “perfect health” and an alternative method is right for you, check out this book.  It has helped open my eyes and see what was missing and how to bring those types of things back into my life so I could begin achieving my own “perfect health.”

Help, I Need an Energy Boost!

July 31st, 2008 by admin

Do you have trouble mustering up the energy to get out of bed in the morning?  Or do you function normally until after lunch, then come crashing to a near-halt?  Lots of us suffer from low energy at one time or another, and for some it’s an everyday occurrence.

All too often, when we need enough energy to get us through the day, we reach for a cup of coffee or some other caffeinated drink.  This does provide a quick boost, but it’s not really the best thing for our bodies.  While an occasional dose of caffeine is no problem, it can easily become a habit.  And that can end up sapping our energy even further in the long run.

There are other ways to get an energy boost.  Most do not provide the quick and dramatic short-term fix that caffeine does, but they do increase our alertness and stamina.  Here are some of the best energy boosters:

* Herbs - There are several herbs that people use to increase their energy levels.  Some of these are ginseng, gotu kola, guarana, ginkgo biloba, and yerba mate.  Some herbs, however, do contain forms of caffeine, so if you’re looking to avoid that, be sure to do your research.

* Nuts - Nuts are high in protein, vitamins and minerals and low in cholesterol, making them a good snack for an energy boost.  They also take longer to digest than foods that are high in carbohydrates, so they provide energy for longer periods of time.

* Bananas - Eating a banana provides a very healthy energy boost.  They contain vitamin C, iron, and antioxidants, all of which contribute to our energy levels as well as our overall health.  Eating a banana about an hour before physical activity will provide a nice increase in energy.

* Carbohydrates - There are two types of carbohydrates:  simple and complex.  Simple carbohydrates, also known as simple sugars, are the ones that provide a quick burst of energy but tend to make you crash just as quickly.  Complex carbohydrates are found in foods such as pasta, rice, bread, oatmeal, and certain fruits and vegetables.  These give us more stable energy.

Ideally, we should obtain our energy through our diets.  But in today’s busy society, good nutrition through meals tends to get overlooked.  There are energy bars on the market that include beneficial vitamins, minerals and herbs that can pick us up when we’re dragging.  There is no harm in using them as needed, but it is best to try to get as much as possible of the things we need from balanced meals.

Living a healthy lifestyle is the best way to keep our energy levels up.  But sometimes we need a quick pick-me-up.  When we do, there are things that can satisfy without causing us harm.  So instead of reaching for your favorite caffeine-filled drink, why not try something a little healthier?

How to Take 3 Inches Off Your Waist Line…

July 31st, 2008 by admin

by Michael Jans

The first place your body starts to gain weight is of course your waist line. Did you know that over 40 Million Americans are overweight? However, this is also the first place you’ll start seeing an impact when you’re losing weight.

What most people don’t understand is that a bulk of the weight is actually just water preservation. Your body is retaining more water than it really needs. Not only is that adding weight on the scale, but it’s also adding the rolls around your waist!

If you want to quickly and easily take the first 3 inches off of your waist, here are three things to quickly start doing.

1. Stop Eating Salt

Salt naturally retains water. The next time you’re about to have your meal and you feel like sprinkling extra salt on the food, don’t.

Giving up salt can immediately show its effect on your body’s water retention.

2. Stop Eating Sodium

Fast food has tons of sodium, which is really the same thing as salt. This is the biggest reason to stop eating fast-food or eating out.

In other words, fast food and restaurant food is naturally high on salt and sodium. Also, Frozen foods can also have a lot of preservatives that include salt and sodium.

3. Drink More Water!

Ironically, the easiest way to get RID of water is to DRINK more! Your body will naturally feel like it does not need to retain more water and start releasing it.

You will definitely need to urinate much more often, but that’s a good thing! You’re getting rid of the excess water. Also, the clearer your urine is, the better it is.

Make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

The above three tips will immediately help you start losing weight and directly losing inches off of your waist line. But if you want to continue losing your belly fat and working towards a flat six pack abs, there are many other nutritional and fitness exercises to start doing.
